If you’re looking for the best place to find eclectic home decor, start at the flea market.

Flea markets are treasure troves filled with unique home goods you won’t find anywhere else. From burlwood furniture and vintage wool blankets to interesting coffee-table accessories, original artwork, and unexpected collectibles, they’re the perfect place to discover pieces that tell a story. Some of my favourite finds have been items I wasn’t even searching for—they caught my eye and ended up becoming some of my most treasured possessions.

Over the years, I’ve visited flea markets all over the world, and they’ve become one of my favourite ways to experience a destination while sourcing one-of-a-kind decor. Best Flea Markets Around the Globe for Eclectic Home Decor

Zagreb, Croatia

One of my all-time favourites is the flea market in Zagreb, Croatia. Every Sunday, vendors gather in the city, offering an incredible collection of historical and unique treasures. From antique maps and vintage fur coats to beautiful jewelry and home accessories, there’s something special around every corner.

Marrakesh, Morocco

The flea markets in Marrakesh are unlike anywhere else. Walking through the bustling souks is an experience in itself, with endless stalls displaying handcrafted goods, textiles, artwork, lighting, and decor.

I came home with several carved wooden sculptures that now decorate my home, along with an assortment of spices and teas. Even if you’re shopping primarily for decor, don’t leave without exploring the incredible local food and spice vendors—they’re an essential part of the experience.

Tirana, Albania

One of the most unexpected gems I’ve discovered was the flea market in Tirana, Albania. It was filled with beautifully handcrafted items made by local artisans.

I purchased several stunning cushion covers featuring intricate detailing and rich textures, and they remain some of my favourite pieces in my home today. They’re beautifully made, unique, and a wonderful reminder that some of the best design finds are discovered in the most unexpected places.

Another one of my favourite places to shop for eclectic home decor is Etsy.

I love Etsy because it allows me to connect with makers, artisans, and vintage sellers from all over the world. As a designer, it’s become one of my go-to resources for sourcing unique pieces for my clients. On Etsy, I’ve found beautiful Turkish rugs, custom drapery, vintage lighting, handcrafted decor, and countless one-of-a-kind accessories that have helped bring my projects to life.

To me, eclectic design is all about thoughtfully combining unique pieces to create a home that tells a cohesive story. Rather than filling a space with items from a single retailer, Etsy makes it possible to source meaningful objects with character, history, and craftsmanship.

Shopping on Etsy does require a bit of patience. There’s definitely some hunting and research involved to find the perfect piece, but that’s part of the fun. 1stDibs is a website I find myself window shopping on all the time. It’s where I go to admire incredible vintage furniture, rare antiques, and beautifully curated decor pieces that are often well beyond my budget.

If you’re looking for truly unique, investment-worthy pieces that will elevate your home, 1stDibs is absolutely worth browsing. The selection is exceptional, with everything from vintage lighting and designer furniture to artwork and decorative objects that are difficult to find elsewhere.

That said, be prepared—it’s definitely on the expensive side. If you’re working with a strict budget, this may not be the place to do the bulk of your shopping. However, if you’re searching for that one extraordinary piece that becomes the focal point of your room, 1stDibs is an absolute goldmine.

4. Chairish

Similar to 1stDibs, Chairish is another fantastic destination for vintage and one-of-a-kind home decor, making it a gold mine for eclectic home decor.

If you’re looking to add character and personality to your space, this retailer offers an incredible selection of unique furnishings and accessories that fit beautifully within an eclectic home. Like 1stDibs, many of the pieces are investment purchases, but if you’re willing to splurge on something truly special, Chairish is well worth spending some time browsing.

Sometimes all it takes is one standout vintage piece to completely transform a room, and Chairish is full of those kinds of finds.

5. Anthropologie Home

Another favourite of mine is Anthropologie Home.

Anthropologie Home has a playful, artistic, and feminine aesthetic that pairs beautifully with many eclectic interiors. If you’re looking to add colour, texture, and personality to your home, it’s an amazing place to shop.

Some of my favourite categories include their throw pillows, accent furniture, lighting, stoneware and drapery. Their pieces have a distinctive style that can instantly make a space feel more curated and collected.

While I think many of their pieces are worth the investment, they can certainly be on the pricier side.
