My Review Of DesignShop: Interior Design Samples Made Easy

We really are in the future of interior design. I say this because you can now get interior design samples delivered right to your door. I’m talking cabinetry samples, hardware, countertops, tile, peel and stick paint samples, even plumbing fixtures! All from one company. That company? DesignShop. In this post, I’ll walk you through how DesignShop makes the interior design sample process easy and painless. I’ll show you what I ordered, how I’m using it to design a super cool kitchen, and why this new way of sourcing is the way to go.

This post is made in partnership with DesignShop. However, all opinions are my own, always.

The Best Way to Coordinate Interior Design Samples

Let’s talk about the traditional way of gathering samples. As an experienced designer, I’ve done this dance too many times: driving to four or more showrooms, asking (or begging) to borrow samples, paying a borrowing deposit, lugging the samples to my client’s home, then returning them once selections are confirmed.

It’s a lot. And if you’re not a designer like me, it can be even more stressful. You might not know where to go, which suppliers to trust, or even which materials coordinate well together. That’s where DesignShop comes in.

Meet DesignShop

DesignShop gives you access to thousands of samples across all the major home improvement categories; tile, countertops, flooring, wallpaper, paint, cabinetry, panelling, and more. They work with top-tier brands like Kohler, Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin Moore, Cosentino, and many others.

They even offer a photorealistic visualization tool that lets you see how your selections might look together.

Plus, with their shoppable inspiration and expert guidance, it’s like having a designer in your back pocket (well, besides me, of course!).

Where Does DesignShop Deliver?

DesignShop offers overnight shipping to all 48 contiguous U.S. states. If you’ve ever been in the middle of a renovation, you know just how important the timeline is.

So, now that we are all aware of what DesignShop can do. Let’s put it to the test, a Spaces by Dee approval test and design some spaces.

Designing a Kitchen with DesignShop

For the first test, I decided to put DesignShop to the test by designing a kitchen using only their materials. I browsed their selection to get inspired. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety: from subtle neutrals to funky, bold statement options. There’s truly something for every style, and as someone who designs everything from minimalist to eclectic spaces, that variety is gold.

Then—I found the tile. Funky, bold, and exactly the kind of design element I needed for this particular kitchen, which I’m styling as earthy, cool, contemporary, and unique. If you know my design taste, you know I love mixing artistic elements with personal touches. We don’t do boring kitchens around here. This tile nailed the vibe.

The tile: Ann Sacks, Selvaggio Safari – Bianco Nero, Square.

From there, I selected coordinating finishes: countertops, cabinetry finishes, hardware choices, and flooring options. I placed my order and a neatly packaged sample box arrived at my door.

Everything was beautifully organized, and some materials even included product info printed right on the package, which is a detail I love!

Here is everything I ordered:

I laid out all the material samples, reviewed my options, and finalized the selections for this cool-girl kitchen. It was easy once seeing the samples in-person. Below I will insert raw, unedited photos of my final selections so you can really see the detail.

So, the vision came together as follows: two-toned cabinetry, with timber on the lowers and pistachio green on the uppers, paired with a hickory-look laminate floor, Eternal Glow for the countertops and the lower half of the back splash, with the upper portion featuring the Selvaggio tile (I got a little creative here), and chrome hardware. The vibe I was going for was creative, cool, trendy, and contemporary.

Can’t Visualize Samples? There’s a Tool for That

I know some people find it hard to imagine how different materials will look together. Even if you have all the samples in hand, coordinating them can feel overwhelming. Thankfully, DesignShop’s visualization tool lets you upload your selections and view a mock-up. This helps take the guesswork out of the process—perfect for homeowners doing it solo or new designers just getting started. In my next test, I will put together a bathroom design using this tool.

DesigShop’s Virtual Visualization Tool

I wanted to give DesignShop’s visualization tool a try, so I decided to put together a bathroom design. The tool was incredibly easy to use and does a great job of showing how a space could come together visually.

Here’s a quick look inside the tool, along with the bathroom I created:
