Interior Design Trends 2027: 6 Home Trends That Will Dominate
As 2026 comes to a close, designers like me are looking back on the year’s projects and noticing the common threads running through them. It’s also when a new trend cycle begins, and everyone starts wondering which interior design trends 2027 will bring.
High Point Market always sets the tone for the year ahead, and this year was no different. The push toward warm, western-inspired spaces and rich colour was obvious, and honestly, it excites me.
Below are my picks for the six interior design trends 2027 will be all about, plus how to bring each one into your own space.
1. Sculptural Furniture and Lighting Are Still In

Sculptural furniture shapes and fixtures will continue to dominate in 2027. The trend first took hold through the organic modern aesthetic, with its focus on curves and soft lines. Organic modern is starting to fade a little, but that doesn’t mean sculptural design is going anywhere.
Instead, it’s being reinvented. In 2027, expect to see metal and glass shaped into pieces unlike anything we’ve seen before. Light fixtures like sconces, accent furniture and chairs will still have curves and organic shapes, but with more personality than before, mixing materials such as wood, metal and fringe in a single piece.
2. Burl Wood and Faux Bois Make a Comeback

Burl wood is back, and I couldn’t be happier about it. I have a ton of burl in my own home. It’s a finish I adore, and I can’t wait to see the new ways it shows up in 2027. Burl isn’t just for statement furniture anymore: it’s appearing in lamps and decor pieces, and its fabric cousin, moiré, is making a big comeback too.
Alongside burl, faux bois (a decorative finish that imitates wood grain) is also back in the trend cycle. Together, they point to a 2027 revival of warmth, pattern and character in the wood finishes we bring into our homes.
3. Western Interiors (Without the Theme)

Western-inspired decor is making its way in. Think leather, suede, cow print, fringe, darker woods and colours, and a little bit of the Wild West.
In 2027, people are moving toward warmer interiors, and Western elements deliver exactly that. The textures add charm and complement the warm overall palette.
Don’t treat this trend as a theme. It’s a style you can dip your toes into if you want a modern twist on rustic charm.
Home decor is following suit, with clay pots, mismatched picture frames and flea market finds creating a “grandma chic” look. These pieces coexist beautifully with western style because they share the same lived-in feel.
4. Warm Colour Trends and Jewel Tones

Let’s talk colour. The 2027 colour trends catching everyone’s eye are warm and very much jewel-toned.
Benjamin Moore named Webster Green (HC-130) its Colour of the Year for 2027, and we’re also seeing plenty of reds and purples in interiors: oxblood, burgundy and mauve, plus warm ochre.
The common thread across all the interior design trends 2027 has in store is warmth and personality. You don’t need to adopt every one. Pick one or two that suit your home, like a burl accent table or a velvet chair in a jewel tone, and build from there.
5. Stained Glass

Another big trend I’m seeing is stained glass, in both windows and artwork. I think it’s SUPER cool. I love when people add architectural details to their homes, so I’m thrilled to see stained glass making its way into interiors.
If replacing a window isn’t in the cards, a stained glass panel or piece of art is an easy way to try the look.
6. Velvet and Chenille Replace Bouclé

In 2027, we’re saying goodbye to bouclé. People want fabrics that suit the warm, textured palette this year is leaning into, so fabrics with sheen are back, and overdone choices like bouclé are on their way out.
Velvet and chenille fit the bill perfectly. They’re soft, they catch the light, and they look especially rich in the jewel tones above.
How to Bring 2027 Interior Design Trends Into Your Home
The common thread across all of these trends is warmth and personality. You don’t need to adopt every one. Pick one or two that suit your home, like a burl accent table or a velvet chair in a jewel tone, and build from there.
I’m a big believer in decorating your home to reflect your personal design style rather than following trends. However, drawing inspiration from each year’s interior design trends is a great way to have fun with your space, discover something you may not have known you loved, and, if it’s important to you, incorporate a few trendy elements into your home.
