The Top Decor Stores Better Than HomeGoods

As an interior designer, I know a thing or two about home decor, and I’ve definitely spent my fair share of time browsing the aisles at HomeGoods. The thing about HomeGoods, though, is that shopping there can feel like a bit of a gamble. Sometimes I walk in and am amazed by the unique, unexpected finds I stumble upon. Other times, I leave empty-handed, wondering where all the good stuff went.

And while the thrill of the hunt can certainly be part of the fun, sometimes you want a shopping experience that’s a little more predictable, curated, and inspiring.

So, if you’re looking for stores like HomeGoods for home decor—whether you’re after unique pieces, stylish accessories, or just want more options to browse—keep reading. I’m rounding up some of the best HomeGoods alternatives worth checking out.

AVOID COSTLY (AND UGLY) DESIGN MISTAKES

The Best Home Decor Stores Like HomeGoods

1. Amazon Home

homegoods

Amazon Home products are honestly not hyped enough. I know people who have fully furnished and decorated their entire homes using Amazon, and while I wouldn’t necessarily recommend ordering everything for your home from there, I do think Amazon has an incredible variety of home decor.

Personally, I rely on Amazon quite a bit for things like throw blankets, tabletop accessories, picture frames, small furniture pieces, and home gadgets. I also find myself browsing Amazon whenever I’m looking for home decor and furniture dupes.

What do I mean by dupes? Sometimes I’ll find a piece I absolutely love, only to realize it’s way more than I’m willing to spend. That’s when Amazon comes in handy. I can often find a similar-looking alternative for a fraction of the price, allowing me to get the look I want while saving a few dollars in the process.

So, while Amazon may not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of home decor, I definitely think it’s worth checking out—especially when you’re hunting for affordable alternatives to those more expensive pieces you’ve been eyeing.

2. Wayfair

homegoods

I love shopping at Wayfair for so many reasons, but mostly because they carry tons of my favourite brands, including Joss & Main and AllModern (which is their sister brand). Unlike HomeGoods, I love that you can easily filter through thousands of products by colour, style, size, price, and more. So, if you’re looking for something very specific, Wayfair makes the shopping process so much easier.

They carry a lot of affordable furniture and decor, which is especially helpful if you’re working with a budget. While the experience is different from the treasure-hunt feeling you get at HomeGoods, I’d say Wayfair is one of the best alternatives if you want to find affordable furniture and decor pieces quickly and easily.

3. Quince

Quince has quickly become one of my favourite places to shop for home goods. I’ve purchased everything from my duvet cover (click here if you want to see it) to linen clothing and even my suitcase from this retailer. They really do carry a little bit of everything, and, in my experience, they do it well while keeping their prices reasonable.

Their home collection is surprisingly extensive, with everything from bedding, lighting, candles, rugs, curtains, and glassware to other home essentials. I also love that their pieces tend to feel trendy and elevated, and many styles are available in a variety of colours, making it easy to find something that works with your space.

If you haven’t checked out Quince’s home collection yet, I definitely think this retailer is worth a look!

4. Zara Home

If you’re looking for trendy, reasonably priced decor and furniture pieces, Zara Home is definitely worth checking out. While it’s a little pricier than HomeGoods, the pieces feel much more elevated and curated.

They carry a lot of stylish, on-trend pieces that you typically wouldn’t find at HomeGoods, making it a great option when you want something that feels a little more sophisticated.

I find many of their items to be reasonably priced, although some pieces can definitely be on the pricier side. Overall, Zara Home is a retailer I’d recommend checking out, especially if you have a location near you.

5. Urban Outfitters Home

Urban Outfitters Home is a bit of a hidden gem when it comes to finding trendy home items at a reasonable price. They carry a lot of unique pieces, including tons of tabletop decor and little knick-knacks, which are exactly the kinds of things people often head to HomeGoods to find.

UO Home definitely has a younger, more playful feel, so I’d say it’s especially geared toward teens and anyone with a more eclectic or playful design style. That said, there are plenty of unique pieces to discover, so it’s definitely a retailer worth checking out if its aesthetic fits your personal style.

6. Anthropologie Home

Similar to Urban Outfitters Home, Anthropologie Home is a haven for home decor if your style is playful, youthful, fun, and vibrant. Anthropologie has so many tabletop goodies that I absolutely love, from unique accessories to statement-making pieces that can really add personality to a space.

While it is definitely on the pricier side, I find that the quality of their pieces is noticeably better than what you’ll typically find at HomeGoods. If you’re looking for those special pieces that can elevate and complete your space, Anthropologie Home is definitely worth browsing.

7. Crate & Barrel

On the pricier side, but still definitely worth mentioning, is Crate & Barrel. I love Crate & Barrel for its decor, artwork, and home goods. The pieces tend to feel higher quality, more curated, and much more on-trend than what you’ll typically find at HomeGoods.

While the two retailers aren’t exactly comparable when it comes to price, I still think Crate & Barrel deserves a spot on this list. In my opinion, great decor is often worth the splurge, and a well-designed home doesn’t necessarily mean buying everything at the same price point. I like to mix higher-end pieces with more affordable finds to create a balanced look that feels intentional without completely blowing the budget.

And, at times, Crate & Barrel has phenomenal markdowns!
