I Was Stuck Choosing Wall Art—Until I Found This
As an interior decorator, you would think selecting wall art for my own condo would be easy—wrong.
Believe it or not, I’ve actually always found the process of selecting wall art to be one of the most challenging parts of my job. Art is really the icing on the cake of a project—it’s the accessory to the outfit, so to speak—and it can truly make or break a space. The challenge is that there are so many styles and types of art. Finding something that fits the space, the vibe, the size and the budget can be surprisingly difficult.

AVOID COSTLY (AND UGLY) DESIGN MISTAKES

Artwork has always been very special to me. There was a point in my career when I painted and created artwork for my clientele. Many of the interiors I’ve designed feature the art pieces I have painted. Part of this endeavour was because I certainly have an artistic spirit, and the other part of it was the struggle to find artwork that truly fit the bill.
To me, artwork has always been more of a journey and a meaningful process, for both me and my clientele. Never have I walked into Home Goods, grabbed a random piece of art, and simply slapped it on the wall to fill space. It’s always been a much more intentional process.
The art in your home is something you’ll look at every single day. The energy and meaning behind it make an impression, not only on your decor scheme but on you as well.
Planning (and Getting Stuck On) Wall Art In My Condo

So when I started decorating my own condo, the process began as most design projects do: planning out the major pieces while simultaneously thinking about every little detail. And once again, the question of wall art came up.
My condo is quite small, but there’s actually a lot of wall space for art. I have a very long, narrow hallway and high ceilings, as you can see in the photo above, that is practically begging for beautiful art pieces.
I began reimagining this hallway—and my condo as a whole—and really thought about what kind of wall art I wanted to feature.
Looking For The Perfect Art Pieces
I searched online through countless vendors, looking for pieces that matched the vibe I was going for and something I would truly enjoy seeing every day.
Now, I did come across a few stunning art pieces, but they were well outside my budget. I’m all for supporting artists, but I just don’t have $5,000 to spend on a single piece at the moment.
I started to feel stuck. I was spending hours scrolling through art—occasionally finding beautiful pieces that were far too expensive—mixed in with a sea of artwork that didn’t feel personal or special enough. Eventually, I started thinking that maybe I should just pull out my paintbrush and create all the art myself.
And while that wouldn’t necessarily be a bad idea, filling my entire condo with only my own artwork felt like it might fall a bit flat. I wanted my home to feel personal, yes—but I also wanted artwork that told stories in different ways and brought bold, rich energy to my walls.
One day, while browsing through the photo gallery on my iPhone—as I often do—I came across photos from last summer when I was travelling. I had visited Zadar, Croatia (and quite a few other places as well), and while scrolling through the images I took there, one photo stopped me in my tracks. Here it is:

I immediately thought: Yes. This is what I want to start my gallery with.
That moment in time was incredibly special to me, and I loved the idea of being reminded of it every day as I started this new chapter in my life.
But then the question became: how do I get this on my wall?
I Found My Wall Art Solution
That’s when I discovered Desenio.
Desenio is an online art shop that offers a wide range of art styles available as posters, framed prints, canvas pieces, and more. But what really caught my attention was that they also allow you to upload and print your own custom artwork or photos.
This is where I was sold.
So I went ahead and ordered a large print of my photo from Zadar, along with a simple black frame.
The whole process was incredibly easy, and it gave me exactly what I was looking for: custom art that meant something to me, looked beautiful, and was still affordable. Suddenly, the stress of choosing art completely disappeared.
A few days later, my print and frame arrived.
And here is the result.

I love it. The print looks exactly like the photo from my iPhone, and the frame is perfect.
I placed the piece beside my door, so I’ll see it every single day. It creates the perfect introduction to my condo and reminds me of a special moment every time I walk in or out.
This is just the beginning of my gallery wall, and I’m already planning to order more custom pieces to slowly start filling the space with meaningful memories.
Consider Custom Wall Art

If you’re anything like me—and maybe a bit sentimental when it comes to art—you might find yourself searching for hours only to come away with nothing. If that sounds familiar, I’d encourage you to check out Desenio and their offerings, especially the option to print your own photos or artwork as canvas prints or posters with a frame.
It’s a simple and meaningful way to commemorate a moment in time. I love that I was able to take a photo from my iPhone and turn it into a piece of art on my wall.
In 2026, so many of our photos live only on our screens and rarely get printed. A service like this is a great way to bring those memories into the physical world again—transforming them into something artful, tasteful, and affordable that you can enjoy every day.
